Pete decasas
Pete Decasas is in his first year of coaching high school basketball. He coached at Irvine Valley College and youth teams for Evolution and OC Flyers.
Pete has an impressive resume as a basketball player. He was a three year starter at Capo Valley and was twice named to the All South Coast League first team and All CIF-SS. Pete was also First Team All Orange County.
For his Capo Valley career, Pete is top five in total points, steals and made two-point field goals. He was selected as Capo's Male Athlete of the Year in his senior year. Pete played professionally overseas for several years.
Pete's younger brothers, Chad and Dane were also standouts at Capo and their names dot the season and career record books. Chad went on to play at UC Irvine and Dane played football at Saddleback College and San Diego State. Pete's father, Pete Sr., was one of Mission Viejo High School's top basketball players of all time and Uncle Walt was a standout at Capo in the 1980's.
Pete and Meghan have two children, Peyton and Parker and reside in Mission Viejo.
FRESHMAN ASSISTANT COACH
VINCE HAMASAKI
Vince is in doing his 3rd stint as an assistant coach in the program. He's also the "go to guy" for anything related to Capo Basketball. His sons, Jordan and Taylor, graduated from Capo in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Jordan played two years in the lower levels at Capo. He graduated from Concordia University with a degree in Business Marketing and is currently producing "The Pick and Roll Podcast" which is all about the NBA.
Taylor, after a very good two year varsity career here (two time All South Coast League, All-CIF-SS and All Orange County) attended Chapman University playing four years there. He finished his career top five in games played, field goals made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, total points ans scoring average. He was twice named to the All Conference (SCIAC) team. Taylor currently works in the finance world and this past December, played in a basketball tournament in Hong Kong, representing Southern California and helped bring home the championship.
Vince and Susan have been married for 28 years. He currently works for the Laguna Beach School District as an educator. Susan is a dental hygienist and are both seeing their internet marketing business blossom
